3 Proven Tips to Win in Life
Growing up, I learned the three E’s. After graduating high school, I knew that I had to either seek employment, enroll in college, or enlist in the military. I did not know all of the many other opportunities that were out there to achieve.
I learned that I needed to think bigger and to surround myself with those who are already where I want to be. I thought that I didn’t have anything to add to a conversation of those who had already achieved goals that I was wishing to. I learned that some of those people were open to answering questions I had and that I did bring value. Even though I may not have achieved what they have, we both brought value to the conversation. I learned a lot and those conversations motivated me to push through and accomplish my goals.
I recognized my worth. I stopped thinking small because the people I surrounded myself didn’t. Their expectations of me were high. They pushed me to expect the same thing from myself. It was then that I realized that I can do anything.
Below are three steps to win in life:
- Know What You Are Going After
None of us were created to just pay bills and die. We weren’t born to not enjoy life. The first step is knowing what you are going after. You can’t get anywhere without a plan. Without a plan, you plan to fail. Your goal is not trying to do what everyone else is doing, but you are doing what God has purposed for you to do with your life.
After high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I obtained two college degrees, started two businesses, and I still felt a void in my life. I eventually gave up both businesses because I just knew that there was so much more to life. I enjoyed what I did, but I couldn’t say that I loved it. I wasn’t fulfilled, and I felt like something was missing from my life. When you find purpose, you know without a shadow of a doubt, that it is what’s destined for your life.
All of us were made unique so that we can live out our own purpose and not someone else’s. If you are doing something because someone else is doing it, then you need to reevaluate. Everything is not for everybody.
- Have a Positive Mindset
Your mindset makes a huge difference in determining where you are now and where you are going. Will your mindset keep you stuck or free you to move to your next level?
- Take Action
I know life can get hard with being a parent or spouse, working a full-time job, making sure the kids get from point A to point B, going to school, and so much more. Sometimes life even throws an unexpected curveball. We have to endure hardships and fully activate our faith to get to where we want to be.
I am a mother of three children (including a child with a disability) and a wife. I work full-time, I run a nonprofit organization, and I am active in supporting community organizations. Even with so much going on, I recognize my purpose, and I take action toward fulfilling it. I don’t allow anything to stop me.
Get Motivated! Do something different. I used to get up in the morning and the first thing I did was scroll through social media. There are three things that I learned to do instead. First. I pray, set goals for myself for the day, and listen to something that would motivate me to reach the goals I set out for myself for the day.
What is it that motivates you? Do you set goals for yourself?
You can’t get different results doing the same old thing day in and day out. It’s time to take action! Stop standing in your own way. Let’s get moving!
