Strengths Within

Not perfect, we have our faults

we have been taught to highlight

through education, media, and school.

Many believe we need to use faults as a tool to grow.

The world thinks it is cool to remind each person of their imperfections.

The direction of this path is not uplifting.

It only keeps someone flowing on a river of negativity,

never encouraging the person to find their true ability.

We have the capability to do the amazing.

Negative words hinder the art of creating.

Nothing wrong with instruction and correction.

Let the interjection have a purpose to show a better way.

Let there be encouragement, a statement of achievement.

We all do something well, and yet that’s something we never tell

or hear from another person.

Another version of vision focuses on the strengths we possess.

We can build upon them, increasing, not highlighting less,

overcoming tests in our own special way,

putting our powerful characteristics on display

allowing others to see the special abilities that make us unique.

As we reach higher peaks,

the valleys will lose the flashlight shown upon them.

When the sum is greater, the overall is greater.

The gifts we have are a vindicator—

an indicator that there is more to any person that what the eye can see.

Free of misconceptions, we need a new conception

of how we view one another through daily interaction.

Our reaction should not be to look for a weakness

but to uncover the canvas of the internal beauty.

The reality is we all have a contribution to be part of the solution.
