Empowerment

Gina Robinson

A few years ago, I was introduced to a beautiful songbird with a voice that would stop anyone who heard her in their tracks. Her voice immediately captured me and guided me into a deep worship with God. This songbird is none other than Gina Robinson.

Gina Robinson has made Charlotte, NC, her home. She was born and raised in Greenville, SC. With music being in her blood, Ms. Robinson started singing at the age of three. Eager to share her gift with others, she partnered with her sister and a cousin to form a group called The Voices of Hope. They traveled around to countless churches sharing their love for God and singing. The group was blessed to enter the music industry opening for the Four Tops & Temptations, and Gladys Knight & The Pips. Gina Robinson’s gift of singing opened the door to her acting career. She had the honor of touring with the national musical stage play “When a Woman’s Fed Up,” which featured Lenny Williams, Glenn Jones, CeCe Penniston, Dorthy Norwood, and Shuckey Duckey.

Ms. Robinson’s vocals caught the attention of many national and international recording artists. She has had the opportunity to sing background for Donald Lawrence, Steven Hurd, VaShawn Mitchell (Gospel Heritage), and Desmond Pringle (When a Woman’s Fed Up), Rev. Timothy Wright, and Lonnie Hunter (McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour). Ms. Robinson has opened up for Tramaine Hawkins and Smokie Norfolk. She completed her first solo album titled “Released”, produced by multi-Grammy, Stella, and Dove Award winner Cedric Thompson.

Gina’s talents don’t just stop at singing and acting. She ventured into the world of television, producing and hosting her own show called “Gospel with Gina.” Approximately 250,000 viewers watched weekly as she shared Christ through songs and scriptures. She also use her producing skills to produce an annual Christmas benefit concert for local charities in Charlotte, NC. Politics and world matters are also interests of Gina Robinson, which led her to earn a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Winthrop University.

Gina has experienced much success; however, she also had to overcome many challenges. In her twenties she made the decision to dedicate her life and voice unto to Lord to be used for His glory. During this time she experienced her greatest struggles. Ms. Robinson went through a period of fear, depression, and constant negative thinking. She felt isolated and misunderstood. She cried out to the Lord and I said, “Jesus, I need You to heal me! I can go to every doctor in the world, but no one can heal me but You.” Then her life began to change for the better. Christian counseling and the Word of God transformed her life. Knowing first-hand that God is a healer and can set anyone free, Ms. Robinson shares her testimony with others so they can release everything hurtful and live in His peace. Gina Robinson had to learn how to let go of her past, fear, and negative thoughts in order to live a joyful life. As a professional singer, she has yet to be signed to a record label, but with the creation of iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby.com, she has found much success as a solo artist. The knowledge she is gaining as a solo artist is motivating her to start her own record label company.

Accepting Christ in her life and having the opportunity to share Him and what He has brought her through in song is her greatest achievement. Gina’s achievement wouldn’t be possible without the inspiration she receives from her mother, a woman who raised two children on her own, while working full time, and doing ministry. As her mother was an inspiration to her, Gina desires to impact the lives of others by being a source of encouragement to anyone who may be facing obstacles in their lives and to help them know that through Christ, all things are truly possible.

These six steps are what Ms. Robinson believes every woman needs to complete in order to achieve their dreams:

  1. Believe that God has given you the ability to accomplish it.
  2. Educate yourself.
  3. Create a plan.
  4. Prepare yourself for rejection.
  5. Be determined to do what it takes to be successful.
  6. Don’t talk about it. Do it.

Gina Robinson is a woman like none other and she is determined to leave a legacy that demonstrated her love for God and a person who cared for His people. She would like to encourage those who don’t know Christ to accept Him as their Lord and Savior today. “Tomorrow is not promised. And for those that might be going through, to reach out to Him. He is the source of everything you need.”
